MAEDA's first original mini crawler crane model was launched in 1987 in Japan.

It was called "MC154C" with capacity of 1.5t and 4 section boom.

The layout of the machine component was slightly different from current machines, but the following models MC254C and MC264C were made based on this model, and the appearance of this model was already very close to today's models.

This model was very popular among stone workers especially for Japanese grave yard job to install grave stones where accecibility is extremely restricted. Since then, this sized cranes have been used for this industry.

Machine function was very simple as it had no computerised moment limiter, or remote control. Travelling system was clutch type which is different from current machines.

Who could imagine mini crawler cranes will be used in all over the world at this time in 1987?

Started from Japanese grave yard, mini crawler cranes have evolved into the machines required in the world now.

What surprised me was that the standard color was orange!!

Now I see why mini crawler cranes with these outriggers are called as "Crab Cranes" in Japan.

It sure looks like a crab.
